ree

How many of us have spent thousands, if not lakhs, on travelling to our dream destinations? Many save for the entire year to take that one trip to their bucket list destination. But, Varun Vagish successfully manages to take around 3 to 4 trips in a year within a budget of just one trip. Dr.Varun Vagish is an ex-journalist, news reader – (AIR) and Academician and holds a PhD in Mass Communication. He has been exploring the remote parts of India for the last 15 years, now is a full-time traveller, vlogger/blogger and to top it all was also bestowed with the National Award by Ministry of Tourism, India. How Was The Travel Bug Caught? Though born in Delhi, Varun moved through many states for his studies. Brought up extensively in Maharashtra, after living in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and the list can go on forever! During these years, he would bunk his school, and often explore the nearby places and hills. After he went back to Delhi for his higher studies, he was always fascinated by the mountains and travelled to the grand Himalayas whenever possible. Varun chose the most off-beaten places and explored the most distant villages of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and gained most amazing experiences with locals. But his outlook towards travelling was completely changed when he took his first international trip. He observed many travellers with just one backpack have been travelling for months, on a dirt-cheap budget! He realised that with a middle-class Indian budget these people could travel around the world for months. Since then, Varun has been travelling in the most inexpensive ways. The Master Plan of Budget Traveling Varun shared his master plan for travelling in a tight budget. He divides his expenses into three categories. Accommodation, Food and Transport. Saving hundreds and sometimes thousands daily. Varun prefers hostels and homestays over fancy hotels, buys food from supermarkets while abroad instead of eating at a restaurant and chooses trains overflights and hitchhikes while on road.
